Sofiyivsky Park in Uman

Sofiyivsky Park or simply Sofiyivka (Sofievka) is situated in the city of Uman, Cherkassy region.
This great gift of love is one of the world famous garden-park art creations. It was founded in 1796 by Count S. Pototsky and named after his Greek beautiful wife Sofia. The park created in romantic style using roman and greek mythology. This idea belonged to Sofia who missed her native country very much. Thanks to her best idea and the talents of the Polish architect Ludwig Metzel and the best German gardener Olive, today everybody can find there thousands of exotic plants in landscapes, which were brought from all the places of the world, mythological plots from Ancient Greece and Rome, a number of sculptures, mostly antique ones, artificial cliffs, grottoes, and gazebos.
The Sofiyivsky Park was named one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine on August 21, 2007, based on voting by experts and the internet community.
